Nothing is worse than beating a difficult boss only to discover that progress wasn’t saved and players have to do it all over again, so here is how to save in Valkyrie Elysium.

Is There An Auto-Save?

Auto-Save has become far more common these days in JRPG games. Valkyrie Elysium continues this trend and does have an Auto-Save that periodically kicks in. While some games rely on a tiny little symbol in one of the corners of the screen, Valkyrie Elysium displays a message in the upper right-hand corner that says “Auto-Saving” with a little quill next to it.

Once that disappears, the game has successfully saved any progress that has been made so far. This feature is somewhat unreliable as it isn’t clear what triggers it. So Valkyrie Elysium players should be careful with how much they rely on it.

Is There a Way to Save Manually?

As is very traditional in JRPGs, Valkyrie Elysium does have manual save points. Like in many RPGs that have manual save points, these devices that can be used to save progress are not subtle, nor are they easy to miss.

For Valkyrie Elysium, players should look for large floating crystals as they progress through Main Missions. These can be used to manually save progress, so players should rely more on these and less on Auto-Save. Not only that, but these save points can also be used to upgrade weapons that Valkyrie Elysium players have unlocked up to that point.

Are Save Points Only In Missions?

While several save points will show up throughout each mission, they are not the only ones that can be found in Valkyrie Elysium. Between missions, Valkyrie Elysium players will return to Valhalla to advance the story and get ready for whatever comes next in the next Mission or Side Quest they decide to engage in.

Like the save points in missions, the save point in Valhalla can also be used to upgrade weapons, provided that players have all the necessary resources. As far as games with manual save points go, Valkyrie Elysium is very generous with its placement of manual save points, so players will never have to go too long without one.

Valkyrie Elysium is available now on PS4 and PS5. It will be available for PC on November 11th.
