How to Craft the Trap in Valheim?

The Trap is craftable using Valheim’s Hammer, underneath the miscellaneous category for the cost of 10 Bronze Nails, 5 Black Metal bars, and 1 Mechanical Spring. For this, players can place their Trap anywhere within range of a Workbench. Once on the ground, players need to open the Trap by activating it. Unfortunately, once this item is active, it will damage any creature that gets too close including the player that crafted it.

The Trap cannot be upgraded and deals 100 physical damage to whatever creature steps on it. For this damage it takes 30 structural damage and will have to be reset once it has been activated. If the creature hasn’t been killed by this, it will remain in the trap for only a short time before continuing on its way. These traps are especially useful for passively killing creatures such as Hares.

Where to Find the Ingredients for the Trap?

Rating the ingredients from earliest to retrieve to latest, players will be able to craft 20 Bronze Nails at a level 1 Forge for the cost of 1 Bronze bar. Bronze is created at the same crafting location by combining 2 Copper and 1 Tin. From here, Black Metal bars need to be smelted in Valheim’s Blast Furnace using coal and Black Metal Scrap. The latter material is found within chests in Fuling camps as well as drops from those creatures that inhabit them.

The Mechanical Spring is a new item brought to Valheim through the Mistlands update and only available through the Artisan Table. Mechanical Springs require 1 Refined Eitr and 3 Iron bars, two materials that can be harvested/created by venturing into the Mistlands biome. Refined Eitr requires players combine Soft Tissue and Sap at their Eitr Refinery while Iron bars are created at a Smelter by combining Scrap Iron and Coal.

Valheim is available now for PC, and releases in early 2023 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
