Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth is the third and the last installment of the game in the Utawarerumono series. The Utawarerumono series of game and anime was initially developed as a Japanese video game exclusively for Windows by Leaf and Aquaplus on April 26, 2002. Soon after, a game for PlayStation 2 port was developed with the title Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen. The company continued producing different versions to expand their market share and ultimately let everyone enjoy the game.

The Japanese tactical visual novel Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth by Aquaplus was first released in September 2016 and had an anime adaptation. The anime directed by Kenichi Kawamura began in July and will be ending with an exciting finale full of twists and turns. Last month, the official website of the anime announced that the final arc will begin from the 19th episode along with releasing key visuals and trailer in preparation for the series finale. The double episode finale will be simultaneously aired on December 24, 2022. With the anime ending in less than a month’s time, fans are gearing up for the mystical fantasy finale with the character designs made by Masahiko Nakada and series composition by Itsuki Yokoyama.
The last two episodes will revolve around the restoration of peace since the empire is now ruled by a controlling and treacherous villain of the series, the general. The general forcefully seized the throne of the Yamato Empire following the emperor’s death. In order to reinstate the order that was relished by the people, a group of fugitives decided to rally their way into their freedom. The gang rallied at the kingdoms together to fight the strong force of the Imperial army.
The tactical visual novel Utawarerumono is an extremely popular series that gave birth to a plethora of drama CDs, manga, anime adaptations and even a spinoff. Despite the massive selection of multimedia produced from the game, many believe that it’s not as popular as it should be.
Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth Anime will air the double episode finale on December 24, 2022.
